The map pictured is the map that you will receive.

The founder of the Arrowsmith dynasty of cartographers, Aaron Arrowsmith ( B. 1750 ) in England, moved to London at the age of twenty and worked underneath engraver John Cary and cartographer William Faden. Eventually he became hydrographer for the Prince, then subsequent King of Wales in 1820. The piece that brought him fame was a large recreation of the Mercator's projection, a geographical display of the world that indicates north as up and south as down, and inflates things further from the Equator. After passing on his business to his sons Aaron, Samuel, and his nephew John Arrowsmith, the trio continued to publish maps after his death in 1823.

All items listed are from V&J Duncan in Savannah, GA. The shop began in 1983 with one tabletop of antique maps and has grown into a vast collection of old engravings, mezzotints, lithographs, photographs, old books, and antique prints.
