Henry Cuthbert ”H.C.” Tunison was a cartographer in the 19th Century, born on February 5th 1855 in Illinois. The Tunison’s Peerless Atlas Of the World was originally published in 1891 in Jacksonville, Illinois; and then quickly followed in New York City, Toronto, Chicago, Atlanta, San Francisco, and Cincinnati. Notable for the gorgeous detailed emblem, borders and vibrant colors that were a combination of other notable cartography publishers of the time, these maps have been on display in notable places such as the New York Public library. He was married twice, had six children total, and passed away in Cincinnati, Ohio at the age of sixty.
All items listed are from V&J Duncan in Savannah, GA. The shop began in 1983 with one tabletop of antique maps and has grown into a vast collection of old engravings, mezzotints, lithographs, photographs, old books, and antique prints. We have prints of architectural interest, birds, animals, botanicals, fashion, sporting scenes and tens of thousands of portraits.
